SunSource Breaks Ground for the Phase 1 of its 200 MW Solar Project

First phase of 70MW launched by Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Amit Shah and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, as part of the mega groundbreaking ceremony in Lucknow

 

Noida, July 28th 2019: SunSource Energy, a leading distributed solar energy company, announced that it will break ground of its 70MW solar power project, awarded under the Open Access project allocations in the State of Uttar Pradesh. The power generated by this project will be sold through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to commercial and industrial customers. This project is a part of the 200 MW solar power projects that the company has committed to developing in the state of Uttar Pradesh with an estimated investment of INR 900 crores. Through these solar power projects, SunSource will also create over 1,000 direct employment opportunities in the state. 

The 70 MW project will be built with a total investment of over 300 crores and will offset over 85,000 tons of carbon emissions every year. Once commissioned, it will be one of the largest open-access solar power projects in the State of Uttar Pradesh and will help the industrial and commercial establishments to reduce their energy bills and meet their Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets. The project was launched by the Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Amit Shah and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, along with various other projects at the mega groundbreaking ceremony in Lucknow on 28th July.

SunSource, an investee of the Neev Fund – a private equity firm backed by State Bank of India (SBI) and UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), recently won one of India’s largest solar with storage projects in Leh that will supply clean and stable power to the Military Engineer Services, a defence infrastructure development agency in India, by largely substituting their diesel Genset power. SunSource’s customers include large commercial companies, manufacturing companies, India’s largest oil company, airports, leading education institutes, textile companies and warehouses.
